Kinds Of Bacteria

There are different kinds of bacteria scattered all around the environment. Most of them are harmless and help the human body in different ways, but some species of bacteria are pathogenic and cause infections. One of the common examples of a disease causing bacteria is Mycobacterium tuberculosis which causes the disease- tuberculosis. These bacteria however, are pathogenic only under certain conditions. Sometimes, when there is a wound in the skin, these pathogenic bacteria get an entry in the body and cause diseases. Sometimes, when the immune system of the body fails to work properly, diseases occurring due to pathogenic bacteria are common.

One of the most common bacterial infections is pneumonia. It is characterized by lung infections, causing inflammation, accompanied by cough, chills, high fever and rapid breathing. It occurs due to the collection of a mucous membrane over the lungs. Streptococcus pneumonia is the bacterium involved with the occurrence of pneumonia.

Acne is also one of the common kinds of bacterial infections. It is caused by the bacterium Propionibacterium acnes. This infection affects the normal health of the skin, causing pimples and skin infections. This affects mainly the skin and is most common during adolescence.

Tuberculosis is also one of the kinds of bacterial infections. It is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This is characterized by severe coughing sprees, leading to weight loss and weakness and in the body. It mainly affects the lungs.
Food poisoning is one the most common kinds of bacterial infections. It is mainly caused by the bacteria Salmonella and E. coli. This infection causes immense stomach infection and may persist for a few days. It weakens the individual and leads to dehydration.

Leprosy is a chronic skin infection, caused by Mycobacterium leprae. It affects the skin and can even lead to damaging the nerves. It causes skin sores. This is also known as Hansen’s disease. Treatment of leprosy is usually delayed since the symptoms are not detected early enough.

Tonsillitis is another one the popular kinds of bacterial infections. This infection affects mainly young kids. However, it is sometimes observed among adults also. It is caused due to the inflammation of the tonsils, with symptoms like sore throat and fever. It is a major bacterial infection and a number of different species of bacterium are responsible for it.

Eye sty is an infection that leads to the formation of a swollen cyst-like development on the eyelid. It can be very painful. The eye swells up as a whole. Usually, this infection lasts for a few days only, but sometimes, the infection can become serious. It is caused by the Staph bacteria.

Lyme disease is a kind of bacterial infection. It is caused by at least three different kinds of bacterial species, belonging to the genus Borrelia. This infection causes skin rashes, body ache, fever, fatigue. Since this infection affects the bones, if untreated, it can lead to arthritis.
