Kinds Of Triangles According To Sides And Angles

The knowledge of the kinds of triangles according to sides and angles is an elementary knowledge. Although the kinds of triangles according to sides and angles do not matter much for most from day to day use it is good to know the kinds of triangles according to sides and angles. Knowing the kinds of triangles according to sides and angles can be very easy since there are few classifications.

The classifications of triangles are made either according to the sides or according to the angles of the triangles. A triangle may have two classifications based on either the side or the angles. Kinds of triangles according to sides and angles can be different from each other depending on whether you are looking at the sides or at the angles.

Here are the classifications of the triangles based on the measurement of the sides of the triangle-

Equilateral triangle

When the three sides of a triangle is of the same measurement then the triangle formed is known as an Equilateral Triangle. When represented in figure forms single slash marks on the sides denote that the sides are of the same length.

Isosceles triangle

This triangle shows two sides which are of equal length while the third side is of a different length. If the triangle is represented in a figure form then the two equal sides are denoted by the same number of slashes, generally one or two.

Scalene triangle

There are triangles where no two sides are of the same length. These triangles are known as scalene triangles. When represented in figure form no slashes are put on the sides or the number of slashes on each side is different from the other two sides. This denotes that none of the sides are of same length.

The different measurements of the sides may or may not affect the angles of the triangles. The classification of the triangles based on the angles are-

Right triangle

A right angle is a 90 degree angle. So a right angle triangle exhibits a right angle formed by two sides of the triangle. The right angle is generally denoted lust like right angles are denoted.

Obtuse triangle

An obtuse angle is considered as an angle which is greater than 90 degrees. Also, it is less than 180 degrees. So, the obtuse angle triangle exhibits one angle which is greater than 90 degrees but lesser than 180 degrees.

Acute triangle

An acute angle is an angle which is lesser than 90 degrees. Thus an acute triangle is a triangle where all the angles are less than 90 degrees.

Equiangular triangle

Equiangular means having equal angles. So as the name suggest an equiangular triangle is one where all the three angles are equal to each other. Since the sum of all the three angles in a triangle has to be equal to 180 degrees, each angle of the equiangular triangle is 60 degrees. Generally an equiangular triangle is also an equilateral triangle.

These are the various kinds of triangles according to sides and angles that one needs to keep in mind.
